Below is a clear, medical-backed breakdown of what each injury truly means for Week 15 and the fantasy playoffs, who’s likely to suit up, who’s a real risk, and who you simply can’t count on when it matters most.

Week 14 nfl injury recap

Jayden Daniels

Injury: Left elbow injury

Analysis: Daniels scared fantasy managers, Commanders fans, and football fans at large on Sunday after getting blocked to the ground and landing on his left elbow. Daniels was in immense pain and did not return. While this was scary, we knew right away that he did not technically "re-injure" his prior elbow injury but definitely banged it. His initial injury resulted in a hyperextension of the elbow due to him landing with an extended elbow. On Sunday, Daniels landed with his elbow near fully flexed, making it impossible to hyperextend again. The high-velocity impact with the ground will hurt significantly, but is unlikely to cause any lasting damage. Washington says they would like Daniels to play again this season; this most recent injury should not stop him from playing.

Daniel Jones

Injury: Right Achilles tear

Analysis: Jones' season is over, and the beginning of 2026 is in question. Jones' Achilles tear occurred unprovoked during a typical drop back. As Jones is dropping back, he wants to run to the right and overextends his back (right leg to push off and run. As his cleats push off the ground, his right leg is extremely far behind him, and he is unable to get his entire right foot onto the ground to push; instead, he pushes violently with only the balls of his feet, his ankle in a plantarflexed position. In many cases, this is fine, but the amount of force Jones was pushing off with, combined with his hip in extreme extension, and a slippery field, makes him unable to fully push off and change direction with the small surface area of his forefoot contacting the ground, resulting in a rapid dorsiflexion moment at the ankle, overloading the Achilles.

An Achilles tear is a 9-12 month rehab, sometimes more. A quarterback is much less reliant on running and usually can return in the 9-12 month timeframe; however, this is Jones' right Achilles. A right-handed passer must push violently off the right calf and Achilles for throw power, as well as stepping up in the pocket. Jones can return to 100%, but it's unlikely this will be achieved by week one.
