Consistency Ranks – Week 5

We are 35% of the way through the Fantasy Football regular season. I know, right? Can’t believe we’re here already. Consistency isn’t everything, but it’s certainly a great baseline for making roster decisions. Updated Google Doc directly below, with a few of my observations from this week listed throughout the post.

2022 Consistency Ranks

Quarterbacks

  • Perfect Consistency So Far (Defined As Top 12 QB Every Week)
    • Josh Allen (Another week, another top 6 finish)
  • Going back to my note last week about Tom Brady and Russell Wilson, it turns out the first three weeks are more so the norm for Russ, while Brady may have started to figure things out.
  • Matthew Stafford is bad. 60% of the time this year he has been QB25 or worse.

Running Backs

  • “Good” Starts So Far (Defined As Mix Of Only RB1 & RB2 Games Every Week)
    • Christian McCaffrey, Nick Chubb & Saquon Barkley
  • Alvin Kamara must have read this post last week, because he finally cracked the top 12 at the position in a week. Travis Etienne and Cam Akers however… yikes.
  • Tony Pollard now has more top-24 finishes than Ezekiel Elliott. I think we could see that gap widen over the course of the season.
  • If you were worried about Derrick Henry or Austin Ekeler after the first few weeks of the season, I think you can officially exhale. Both have been excellent in recent weeks.
  • The return of Brian Robinson means Antonio Gibson’s days as a starter on your team are limited. He posted his first RB4+ week of the season in Week 5.
  • Chase Edmonds usage continues to baffle. Miami paid the man to use him as a situational player. Maybe they plan on keeping him fresh while they use up as much Raheem Mostert as they can, but still…

Wide Recievers

  • “Good” Starts So Far (Defined As Mix Of Only WR1 & WR2 Games Every Week)
    • Cooper Kupp (Annnnd still…. As bad as Stafford has been, Kupp hasn’t missed a beat this season.)
    • Another week, another week without any of the “Moores” having a top 24 week. Elijah Moore and Skyy Moore haven’t finished inside the top 36 on any given week.
    • Some notable players with more top 24 WR games than Ja’Marr Chase:
      • Rashod Bateman, Christian Kirk, Amari Cooper, Jakobi Meyers, and Corey Davis

Tight End

  • Would be remiss if I didn’t start with Taysom Hill. I don’t think many people started him this week, but if you have him on your team, I don’t see how you keep him out of your lineup moving forward. For a tight end to be number 3 at the position with just 1 catch on the year, he has to be doing something special. He may give you a zero in some weeks, but guess who else does that? Most tight ends. And all of those other tight ends that give you nothing do not have the ability to put up 30 in a week. You may not like it, but this is fantasy football in 2022. Soap box for Taysom over.
  • Travis Kelce and Mark Andrews are the only two players at this position you can actually trust. Good luck everybody else!

D/ST

  • The Saints are now 5 for 5 in finishing between 13-24 at the position. Uber consistent, but not what you drafted them to be.
  • The aforementioned Saints and the Seahawks are the only two units to not post a top 12 week yet this year. This makes Pete Carroll angry.
